Handbook of field sampling for multi-taxon biodiversity studies in European forests

چکیده
Forests host most terrestrial biodiversity and their sustainable management is crucial to halt loss. Although scientific evidence indicates that forest (SFM) should be assessed by monitoring multi-taxon biodiversity, current SFM criteria indicators account only for trees or consider indirect proxies. Several projects performed sampling investigate the effects of on but large variability approaches hampers identification general trends, limits broad-scale inference designing SFM. Here we address need common protocols structure used at broad spatial scales. We established a network researchers involved in 41 across 13 European countries. The data comprised assessment least three taxa, measurement stand same plots stands. mapped standing deadwood, this overview provide operational answers two simple, yet crucial, questions: what sample? How commonly sampled taxonomic groups are vascular plants (83% datasets), beetles (80%), lichens (66%), birds fungi (61%), bryophytes (49%). They cover different structures habitats, with limited focus soil, litter canopy. Notwithstanding goal assessing differed widely within among groups. Differences derive from units (plots size, use vs. plot scale), substrates functional organisms. Sampling methods lying deadwood were relatively homogeneous focused volume calculations, great diameter thresholds. developed handbook (SI 3) aimed greatest possible comparability studies as basis European-wide programs, robust understanding response management, direct

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
The biodiversity values of European virgin forests
What makes virgin forests better forests? Biodiversity evaluation depends on the value systems of the stakeholders involved. Indicators for conservation value, ecosystem functions, wilderness, uniqueness, or species richness may not correlate, or even correlate negatively. Based on arthropod data from a comparative study in two types of virgin forests in core areas of the Carpathian Biosphere R...
متن کاملThe efficiency of different sampling methods in studies of vegetation in Central Zagros forests
There are various vegetation sampling methods regarding objectives of Management at forests. To aim of this study, we undertook a comparative study at Shineh Ghelaee protected forest at middle Zagros using single-scale sampling, single-scale sampling based on transects, and multi-scale sampling methods to investigate the herbaceous layer diversity. In order to know the situation of the region a...

متن کاملEvaluation Accuracy of Nearest Neighbor Sampling Method in Zagross Forests
Collection of appropriate qualitative and quantitative data is necessary for proper management and planning. Used the suitable inventory methods is necessary and accuracy of sampling methods dependent the inventory net and number of sample point. Nearest neighbor sampling method is a one of distance methods and calculated by three equations (Byth and Riple, 1980; Cotam and Curtis, 1956 and Cota...
